LG Infinia 55LW6500

Shortly after the release, the new LG Infinia 55LW6500 is already rocking the sales charts of most major electronics retailers, including Amazon.  The new local dimming for a never before seen image quality, very wide viewing angle plus the fact that 4 pairs of stereoscopic 3D glasses are included make this 2011 HDTV from LG an absolute bestseller. The dynamic contrast ratio of 9,000,000:1 is setting new standards for LED televisions, too. LG is becoming a real value for money winner! Yes, I sound excited, but the TV justifies alot of excitement.

The specs of the 55LW6500 according to LG:

  • Full HD 1080p Resolution
  • 24p Real Cinema
  • LED Plus backlighting with Local Dimming
  • 9,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
  • 240Hz TrueMotion Refresh Rate
  • Cinema 3D Experiance
  • Smart TV internet technology
  • Infinite 3D Surround audio
  • Magic Motion remote control

Overall, this is one of the best LED HDTV that has been released in 2011, a proof that the passive 3D HDTV technology isn’t just a gadget, but the future of television. No more clumpsy and  heavy 3D glasses, no more very limited viewing angles, no more dull looking colors, the 55LW6500 shows how a LED TV should be like.

LG annouced new passive 3D LED HDTV series

It looks like passive 3D is becoming one of the hottest trends in 2011. Now LG Electronics annouced two new LED series, the LW5600 and LW6500 which are following the LE8500 and LX9500 from 2010.

So far none of them is available, but the specs already sound very good:

  • 240Hz Refresh Rate
  • New local dimming technology will a full array of Nano LEDs
  • 4 Pairs of passive 3D glasses included
  • Magic Motion remote, assumed to be the same as for the new plasmas
  • Wi-Fi and Smart TV with enhanced features

We’ll keep you updated as soon as those series are relased and available for ordering.

Vizio XVT3D650SV

The first new passive 3D HDTV was already spotted on Amazon. It’s the huge flagship from Vizio’s XVT3D5 series, a home theater enthusiast dream coming true: The XVT3D650SV

The specs of the XVT3D650SV according to Vizio:

  • Full HD 1080p Resolution
  • Razor LED backlighting with Smart Dimming
  • 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
  • 120Hz Refresh Rate
  • Theater 3D Experiance
  • Built-in 802.11n dual-band Wi-Fi
  • SRS TruSurround HD and SRS TruVolume audio
  • Vizio Internet Apps

This HDTVdoesn’t need expensive active shutter 3D glasses and can be used with standard polarized glasses from any brand. It uses the same passive 3D technology that all the big 3D cinemas use, so the trademark name “Theater 3D” perfectly fits . So, if you have seen Avatar in cinema, you know what kind of quality you can expect. Simply stunning!

The price is still pretty high, but this home entertainment monster is worth every dollar it costs. The smaller models from the XVT3D5 series are expected soon.

When will the first passive 3D HDTVs be available?

At the CES 2011 on 6-9th January in Vegas several manufacturers presented their new 3D HDTVs. While there often seem to be only minor changes in design, e.g. thinner displays, some manufacturers already presented their first passive 3D HDTVs. Are few models, e.g. from Vizio, are already available, more are expected till March.
